DEPTFORD TERRACE

The Deptford Terrace masterplan covered an area of 15 acres on a prominent riverside site in Sunderland. The area had been neglected for a number of years and was in desperate need of regeneration.

Our concept was to create a bold and direct link through the site to enable a reconnection between the surrounding regenerated area and the River Weir. The design simply subdivided the site into four quadrants, each with connections to the public spine leading down to the river.

The larger commercial and mixed-use buildings were to be situated along the southern side of the masterplan, benefiting from the high visibility of the main road. The northern part of the site offered opportunities for residential development, taking advantage of the river views and the riverside park.

The final concept was to create a vibrant new hub, offering great connectivity into Sunderland and the surrounding area whilst also acting as a highly successful community focused area providing fantastic views of the river and unrivalled amenities.
