One Valpy in Reading Town Centre goes from strength to strength following on from its substantial refurbishment.

British technology company Virtual Stock, which supplies next generation software solutions for the retail supply chain, has entered into a 10-year lease for the 7,581 sq ft first floor of One Valpy, taking occupation in June. They join sales software business Inside Sales, which leased 7,243 sq ft on the second floor in May.

Occupiers who had already moved into One Valpy since it was completely refurbished included Bullitt Group, Rio Tinto, Mabey Group and H&M. These new additions mean that the commercial office development is now 75% full, whilst also commanding some of the highest rents in Reading.

BUT WHAT MAKES IT SO SPECIAL?

One Valpy provides occupiers with well-designed space with everything that is needed for the modern commercial tenant.

The office interiors now express a modern and open feel. This has been achieved by replacing the traditional suspended ceiling and exposing the insitu concrete soffit. This has made it possible to increase ceiling heights to, with the added benefit of providing additional energy saving by exposing the thermal mass of the concrete which helps improve heating and cooling.

The beauty of the project is that it isn’t about gimmicks, but about simplicity and letting future tenants personalise the space for less money and time. Providing future occupiers with a clean, crisp, bright and airy canvas, making it a great neutral background for any brand to slot into.

Some of the fit-out work carried out at One Valpy since tenants have moved in has been exceptional. Moho London were commissioned by Bullitt Group to implement their vision for their office interiors.

The CAT A fit-out of One Valpy provided a fantastic starting canvas, with the design tapping into the masses of light permeating the building from 360 degrees. Based on transparency using coloured glass and steel mesh to always allow light to permeate every corner of the space. There are minimal solid walls.

The final appearance derives from an industrial feel but whilst still feeling sophisticated. To be consistent with Bullitt’s brand it was important that the quality of the fit-out was very high and had a sense of originality. The Communal spaces encourage a more relaxed informal working environment which perfectly aligns with the brand culture at Bullitt.

“One Valpy was spot on in terms of the look and feel we wanted for our new office, and its central location and links to London and Heathrow will be vital to attract top talent to the company; something that will be vital as we continue to grow and evolve as a business.”

Colin Batt, CEO at Bullitt Group.
